A Building Survey examines the broader condition of the property. A structural engineer's report addresses specific structural questions, such as movement or the suitability of load-bearing elements. Neither is simply a more basic version of the other.

If a Building Survey identifies concerns requiring specialist structural assessment, the report can recommend further investigation by an appropriate engineer.
